Age & Opportunity is following public health guidelines in relation to Covid-19 (Coronavirus) in Ireland. We are following the advice of the HSE (Health Service Executive), the Department of Health and the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) who are monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n

Our office has closed and our staff are continuing to work from home. All of our training sessions and courses have been cancelled until further notice, as advised by the Government. We will continue to provide updates as the situation develops. Call for Equal Access to Appropriate Treatment Options for all Older People<\/h4>\n

Age alone should never be a barrier to realising one\u2019s right to health.<\/p>\n

The Alliance of Age Sector NGOs wish to acknowledge the care being given to our nursing home residents during the Covid-19 pandemic, and to call for equal access to appropriate treatment options for all older people guided by the principles within the Ethical Framework for Decision-Making in a Pandemic (Department of Health 2020).<\/p>\n

Support and helplines<\/h4>\n

ALONE Ireland<\/strong> have launched a helpline for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Ireland, in collaboration with the HSE and the Department of Health. The helpline will provide advice and reassurance, complementing the clinical advice and HSE helpline and support. Should you, or an older person you know, need advice or support you can reach them from 8am \u2013 8pm Monday \u2013 Friday on 0818 222 024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland<\/strong> have expanded their helpline with a 1:1 Dementia Nurse service supporting people living with dementia. The Helpline is open 6 days a week: Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm. To make an appointment call:

Third Age<\/strong> Seniorline is available from 10am -10pm every day passing on vital information to older people and, most importantly, helping people feel less alone. SeniorLine Freephone 1800 80 45 91.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Aid<\/strong> have a national freephone helpline available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call 1800 341 900<\/a>.<\/p>\n
