What is Get Engaged?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Get Engaged is a course aimed at developing the skills and knowledge of people (aged 50+) who wish to play an active part in their communities and challenge ageism by highlighting the contributions older people make to society. It invites participants to work together on collective activities or creative initiatives, which address specific needs and strengthen participation in their local community. It is designed for a group and is particularly suitable for those who have a community issue or project they would like to address. For those groups that do not, the course helps to identify one they may wish to pursue.\u00a0<\/p>\n

How does it work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This course is made up of two-hour\/two and a half hour sessions run over four to six weeks depending on the needs of the group.<\/p>\n

Topics addressed include: Positive Ageing; Personality, Teamwork and Collaboration; Working for Change; Planning and Implementing a Community Project.<\/p>\n

The process is designed to be interactive and enjoyable with a practical, hands-on focus. It can be tailored to meet the needs of different communities or groups, such as Active Retirement Association groups, Men\u2019s or Women\u2019s Sheds groups, ICA groups and Older People\u2019s Councils or participants in Public Policy Networks (PPNs).<\/p>\n
