Creative Exchanges is a two-day course designed for activities coordinators working in residential or day care settings. It is also suitable for those with an arts background interested in engaging with older people in a care setting.*\u202f<\/p>\n
Creative Exchanges will provide participants with:\u202f<\/p>\n
The course is designed to provide meaningful opportunities to engage older people in arts activities and adopts a person-centred approach promoted by HIQA\u2019s National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People (2016).\u202f<\/p>\n
Creative Exchanges takes place over 2 days and comprises 3 sessions per day<\/strong><\/p>\nProgramme for IMMA, Dublin Course<\/strong><\/p>\nDAY 1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Introduction – Creativity and Wellbeing, Facilitator – Brian Dooney\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nThis session looks at the significance of creativity in our lives and its benefits for greater health and wellbeing. Resources available to facilitate creative activities in different settings are also reviewed.Reminiscence Theatre Workshop, Facilitator – Gillian McCarthy<\/strong>This workshop demonstrates how to utilize objects and images as a means to invite people to share stories and memories, thereby opening the doors to their personal histories. Projects include \u2018Art at the Kitchen Table\u2019 & \u2018Open Gallery with R\u00e9alta. Recent work includes working creatively with palliative care patients in the South East Palliative Care Centre, Waterford and a residency for the Irish Hospice in St. Luke\u2019s Hospital, Kilkenny. This year she exhibited with artist\/puppet maker Corina Duyn in the exhibition \u201cI brought the dream of flying\u201d at GOMA and during \u2018Creative Brain Week\u2019, after a year\u2019s collaboration exploring Corina\u2019s move into a nursing home.Philippa Donellan <\/strong>is a choreographer and dance facilitator. Since 2007 she has worked with older age communities in varied settings across Ireland.
